From March 2022 the caves of Pertosa-Auletta reopen with a visit by boat and museums

Also called Grotte dell’Angelo, the caves of Pertosa-Auletta develop in the massif of the Alburni Mountains, about 70 km south of Salerno, and have two unique characteristics:

• they are the only caves in Italy where it is possible to navigate an underground river, the Negro;
• are the only ones in Europe to preserve the remains of a pile-dwelling village dating back to the second millennium BC.

The area is part of the Cilento, Alburni and Vallo di Diano National Park.

From 4 March 2022 it will be possible to visit the Pertosa-Auletta Caves and the Museums managed by the MiDa Foundation again.

The visitor can choose to visit the Pertosa-Auletta caves by boat along the underground river, the Soil Museum, the Speleo-Archaeological Museum (with the reproduction of the only pile dwelling in the world found in the cave) and also make a speleological visit.
